What you can do on TableTales

Donnie, our AI Dungeon Master, runs the story while a rules engine handles the dice. Here is what you get at the table today, with screens from the game itself.

Free includes 55 AI actions each month. No credit card required.

The screens on this page were captured from the current build on November 3, 2026, on a test server with the demo heroes that come with the game. No player's game appears in them.

The storyteller and the rules engine

The guided first fight on a parchment battle map. Sef the Emberguard's token stands beside a Barrow Wight in a ruined barrow, the turn order bar shows round 1, Donnie's narration panel is on the right, and an orange button reads Strike the Barrow Wight.
A new player starts in a short fight. Press Strike, then tap the dice when they appear. The engine rolls the attack, and the damage if it hits.

Donnie describes where you are and plays every person and monster you meet. You say what your character does in your own words, and Donnie plays out what happens next.

When you swing a sword, the engine rolls against the monster's armor class and, if you hit, rolls the damage. Donnie gets the result before describing the blow. The engine also tracks hit points, conditions, spell slots, death saves and the turn order.

Every roll shows up on a dice card. The Fairness Ledger lists the dice the engine rolled, so you can check any result yourself.

Battle maps and dungeons

The same fight with every control showing: map tools, the dice tower, zoom buttons, the voice button marked Legend, Sef's hit points, armor class and speed, an End Turn button, and a hotbar with Longsword, Second Wind, Dodge, Dash and Help.
Open every control and you get the map tools, the dice tower, your stats and your actions on one bar.

Fights happen on a battle map with tokens and a turn order bar. Your hit points, armor class and speed sit under the map, with your attacks and actions on a hotbar.

In a dungeon, the map stays dark where you have not been and opens up as your token explores.

Characters

Doss Hallowmere's character sheet, a level 6 half-elf rogue: ability scores, saving throws, skills, armor class 16, 45 hit points, spell slots, and class actions such as Sneak Attack and Cunning Action.
Every hero gets a full character sheet. This is a premade rogue from one of the ready-made adventures.

Build a D&D 5e character step by step, import one from D&D Beyond or a character sheet PDF, or take a premade hero from a ready-made adventure.

The sheet tracks abilities, saving throws, skills, hit points, spell slots and class actions. The engine hands out experience for the monsters you defeat, and characters can reach level 12. If your group plays Pathfinder 2e, pick it when you create a campaign and the builder offers its ancestries and classes.

Adventures

A new player starts with a guided first fight, so you learn a turn by playing one. After that you can pick a ready-made adventure, each with premade heroes, art and encounters.

You can also upload a campaign PDF or adventure module you own and play it with Donnie. The free plan takes one PDF of up to 64 pages. Here is how importing works.

Play alone or with friends

Play solo whenever you have an hour, or invite friends to your campaign and Donnie runs the game for the whole group. Bot players can join your party and take their own turns. They come with the paid plans, as the table below shows.

Art, voice and table themes

Scene images are drawn for your story as you play. On a paid plan Donnie also reads the narration aloud, and the Legend plan adds the Voice DM, so you can talk to Donnie out loud.

A campaign's owner picks the table's look in campaign settings: High Fantasy, Mythic Epic, Cyberpunk, Grimdark, Space Opera or Cosmic Horror. There is also a High Contrast theme for anyone who needs the text to stand out more.

What it does not do yet

  • Pathfinder 2e play has gaps. The engine does not apply the multiple attack penalty yet, and the character builder has no heritages or backgrounds. The Pathfinder 2e page lists every one.
  • The adventure importer reads the monsters in your PDF as D&D 5e stat blocks, whichever system your campaign uses.
  • You cannot edit an imported adventure yet. To change it, upload the PDF again.
  • D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e are the only rule systems you can pick.
